We all know how the fairy godmother, with her magic wand, transformed a pumpkin into a golden coach for Cinderella’s ride to the ball. It was magical!
Every girl (me too) wishes that her life was as beautiful as the Cinderella’s story (the happy part, of course). But we all know that it is not possible to turn a vegetable into a ride just by waving a stick at it. Please don’t try this at home!
However, we can at least opt for a better ride to our events. Especially for wedding couples, it takes more than a magic wand to add sparkle to your big day. One easy way to do that is by hiring a limousine for your wedding.
But again, hiring a limo is not as easy as it sounds. It needs proper planning and research. You wouldn’t want to jump on to an immediate conclusion. It’s your wedding, don’t dabble. Take it seriously.
So, to make it easier for you, I’ve listed few ways to rent a limo that will keep you away from ruining your wedding day.
1. Plan Ahead of Time
If you are thinking about hiring a wedding planner, be reminded that they don’t usually cover a limousine rental.
I know a couple who have arrived at their reception in a taxi as they expected a private car from their wedding planner. Jeez! Even if you are a low-budget-coward, you can’t embarrass your future partner with a taxi ride. I mean who does that?
Talk to your partner and gather any suggestions. How do you picture your wedding limousine? How much are you willing to pay for the limousine service? Do you already have a limo company on your mind?
Or maybe you need to talk to other couples that have used the limousine provider for their weddings? These are the things you need to put into consideration and should be answered inquiringly with your partner.
Ask your friends or your neighbors for websites of limousine companies they have used before. Get their recommendations. Check all the websites and look for the best price and service. Other things to look for are- their experience, reviews, fleet, license and insurance, and booking policies. Get your homework right; put all the researches on the table, & bingo!
3. Schedule Meetings
Just working on few rounds behind your computer screen doesn’t make you a good planner. Finding the best wedding limousine takes more than just inquiring few pages on Google. Have multiple options. Make sure that you meet each company’s representative in person. This will be an opportunity to get to know them better and talk about your expectations from their service.
Ask them: What extras do they offer? What are the food and beverages they offer inside the vehicle? Do they offer complimentary drinks? Do they adhere to the planned schedule for a pickup? And anything related to their services.Secure a Written Contract.
4. Secure a Written Contract
Always choose written contract over a verbal agreement. Make sure your written contract includes every little detail including services being provided, payment terms, arrival, backup arrangements, special requests, and refund and cancelation policies. Take your time and go through it.
All the charges and fees should be precisely mentioned so you understand exactly what you are paying for. Be aware of additional expenses.
5. Don’t Always Go For A Low Price Tag
Now read this –
“When I discovered all the negative reviews after I paid my deposit, I wish I had walked away and saved myself six months of headaches!”
YES, this is a real comment from a very disappointed bride in Massachusetts.
If you don’t want to regret like this lady did, you must meticulously review the websites of each and every limousine company that you come across. A rule of thumb – be cautious and wary about unbelievably low price tag displayed on a limo service.
6. Give Them All The Details
Most of the problem arises when you fail to articulate your needs to the company. If you do not voice you requirements then they might not provide them at all. Tell them what type of limousine you prefer. Or, how do you want it to be decorated. Anything that comes to your mind, just ask.
In addition, you can also ask for a test drive or have a thorough inspection to determine its condition.
General things that you have to keep in mind after you’ve have hired a wedding limousine:
- Treat your chauffeur with respect. He is there to give you the best ride of your life.
- Save your chauffeur’s number. Who knows, you might need it sometime.
- Make sure you know your itinerary and have a copy with you.
- No unruly behavior. You are expected to be at your best behavior on your big day.
- Don’t bring more guests than you have agreed in the limousine.
- Make sure that you have retrieved cell phones, bags, gadgets and keys before releasing the driver for the evening.
- Enjoy everything (music, free drinks, etc) that comes with the package.
- Don’t let anyone drink heavily to the extent that he/she gets violent or sick inside of the vehicle.
- Don’t create any unnecessary distraction to your driver as he is the one who is driving and taking you to your destination.
That’s all for today and best wishes to all the happy couples!
